2014 Vans US Open of Surfing
The Vans US Open of Surfing is one of the largest action sports festivals the world has ever seen, consistently drawing massive crowds and sparking global interest in the event For the second consecutive year Uncle Toads produced a top tier webcast/ broadcast/ content and media development for our clients IMG and Vans. This year we stepped up our game adding additional events: The Vans US Open of Surfing Kick off Show, and curated content for a new show on CBS Sports Network called Leadoff. We did all that in addition to our five different live surf events, a live skate contest, live BMX, and a live CBS Sports Post Show. As fun and challenging as live broadcasting is, we also took on the challenge of creating pools of media for distribution, including feature content, news reels and clips from the live show. To top it all off we dove into editing for an hour long TV program, recapping the event, as well as a half hour long show for the ASP Woman’s World Tour TV program.

The Vans US Open of Surfing has proven time and again that it is one of the best locations to film action sports. The iconic Huntington Beach pier allows us to use a Cable Camera, providing one of the most unique angles in surfing, in addition to three live HD long lens cameras, a high speed Phantom slow motion camera, a wireless jet ski camera and a wireless roving camera to capture all the madness on the beach.
