2015 Red Bull Hart Lines

Red Bull is no stranger to creative events and experimenting with new concepts. In 2015, Red Bull along with team rider Ryan Sheckler, activated an idea that he had been pitching for a long time. Ryan’s concept was new to street skateboarding and included a race to the finish line. The event set in Detroit’s Hart Plaza, took two courses each with unique features utilizing the existing elements of the plaza with both finishing on a massive 10 stair surrounded by a stadium audience. Not only did the skaters have to go big, they had to do it with flow and speed to connect each obstacle without eating it. Red Bull approached us to be the official production providers for the event and help produce their NBC show the Red Bull Signature Series.

The event required over 10 cameras to cover. On top of that we included several “death lenses” or follow camera low angles. We had to run miles of fiber optics to our production compound to connect to the vast area the course covered to our central production hub. We recorded all angles including a live cut for the network show, Red Bulls Signature Series. On top of that we produced several on site features to show case Detroit as well as the new format of the event. It was import to play up this region for Red Bull as a market activation as well as communicate this new revolutionary format in skateboarding. We also created a highlight video same day the event finished for Red Bull to promote across all platforms and channels.
